People of cinema industry have proudly claimed ‘pilachina biguvataraa’ as ‘their  jaavali’. Jaavai is a form of romantic invitation that a lover receives from his love for the act of love. This song is tuned in ‘kaapi’ raaga. Bhanumathi rendered and later performed for this song on screen.  While she dances to the tune of ‘pilachina biguvataraa’, N.T. Rama Rao keeps watching her. Srivathsa, donning the role of Srikrishnadevaraya, and Nyapathi Raghava Rao, as poet laureate, watch the performance of Bhanumathi from a hiding. Nyapathi Raghava Rao used to look after everything related to the AIR-program Baalaanandam where he used to appear as Radio Annayya to all children.  If we have to cite a cinema song that completely echoes all features of ‘kaapi’ raaga, we have got to point to ‘pilichina biguvataraa’ as an outstanding example. S. Rajeswara Rao brought so much prominence to ‘kaapi’ raaga in this song.  In later days, when he offered music for Bobbili Yuddam (1964), Amarasilpi Jakkanna (1964), and Vasanthasena (1964) he had to strive for the creation of  ‘jaavalis’ of such high standard. In terms of music and literature, ‘pilachina biguvataraa’ is a textbook case of a ‘jaavali’ fulfilling all the conventional traits of our tradition.  If someone does not know that ‘pilachina biguvataraa’ is a cinema song made in 1951, he may run the risk of consulting ancient tomes like Sangeetha Vidyadarpanam in future!
