Saluru Rajeswara Rao tuned this song with a semi-classical touch, and out of all the songs in the movie this song covers several traits of pure classical music. This ‘enduke neekintha thondara’ is also a song that has become popular with all kinds of audience. While Bhanumathi rendered this song, we find T.G.Kamaladevi performing it on screen.  This song is based on ‘khamaas’ raaga. A popular ‘keerthana’ in this raaga is ‘brochevarevaruraa’, and you may listen to it once again carefully if it is available. If you pay special attention to the completion of the first ‘charanam’ of ‘enduke neekintha thondara’, you find a heart-touching musical interlude—before the commencement of the second ‘charanam’! If you can identify this musical interlude, you find it again in the form of an ‘aalapana’ in the song ‘paadamani nannadagavalenaa’ of Dr Chakravarthi (1964)!  Carefully listen to the ‘aalaapana’ that appears after the line ‘eeveena mrogaka aagina ne paadajalakapoyina’, and compare it with the interlude. This is a clear example to see the genius of Saluru Rajrswara Rao in capturing the true spirit of ‘khamaas’ raaga. He squeezes all the live ‘swaras’ of this raaga to enhance the melody of a song that goes deep into the depths of our heart!
